Transilluminator

A transilluminator is a device for viewing decay, fractures, calculus and other clinical entities by passing an intense light through the tooth. Transilluminators use a quartz-halogen lamp to generate and intense white light, not x-rays, which is transmitted to the working area by a fiber optic rod. This allows light to be placed on the tissue without patient disomfort or injury.

The small size portability of these new devices allows for ther convenient use by the doctor and auxilary personnel.
